3 Months

Owen turned 3 months old last Monday. He has changed so much in such a short period of time and is really starting to develop his own personality. He is smiling so much more now and has made best friends with the ceiling fan, he is always looking at it and smiling :) He is also beginning to "talk" a lot more and loves when I whistle a tune, he thinks it is the funniest thing in the world! Hopefully I can continue to entertain him this easily throughout his entire childhood!

We went to the doctor last week for two vaccines and another weigh in. He is finally starting to put on some lbs--up to 10 lbs 9 oz, finally up to the 3rd percentile. Yes, I said 'up' because he had slipped down to less than the first percentile. We began supplementing with formula and rice cereal. Something that I didn't want to have to do, but he needs it. He gained a pound and a half in two weeks! He is eating a ton more now so hopefully he will continue with this growth spurt and hopefully he'll begin to sleep through the night soon :)

Back to Work

Well, today was a sad day, time for mom to go back to work after a wonderful 13 weeks off. I am proud of myself for 1. getting to work on time and 2. not crying at work. I think I got all of my tears out yesterday; just thinking about never being able to spend this time with him again really made me sad yesterday. I guess I finally now understand when people say their kids grow up way too fast and the time flys by.

Luke and I are fortunate enough to have our mothers to help us out, even when they live so far away. It was a little easier to leave today knowing that he was in good hands. I am just very thankful that I have him all again in 6 weeks when summer arrives!! So glad that I went into the teaching profession :) Now if only he would sleep through the night on a regular basis...

Meeting More Family

We wish the circumstances could have been different, but we unexpectedly were able to meet more family and friends this weekend. We took Owen on his first long car trip to Michigan and he did GREAT! He is a much better traveler than his mother. I really think that Owen enjoyed being in his Great Aunties' arms all weekend, as well as his Grandma's. Who can blame him though? And as you can see, Kim has not lost her touch with Owen... (Sorry I do not have everyone's picture with Owen, I think Kim may have more on her camera).

Owen also got to meet a lot of his parents' friends; Erin, Megan & Eric and twins, Leslie & Nate, Mike & Renee, and let's not forget Funk! I think he is worn out from all of the excitement, as he is already taking his second long nap for the day. He's excited to see everyone again this summer!

Baby Marlow

We just moved into our new home last week, and for those of you who are familiar with the golden retriever breed, you know that change does not come easily for them. Well, Marlow is no exception! For the first couple of days he would just pace around the house, smelling everything that he could smell (we still think he is waiting for the previous dog to jump out of a closet at him). I had to get a picture of this when it happened, because we were convinced that Marlow was pretending to be Owen. I was feeding Owen at the time, holding him much like Luke is holding Marlow...gotta love goldens :)

Happy Easter

The Easter Bunny was very generous to Owen on his first Easter. Although we had to help him find his basket and eat his candy, Owen really enjoyed it. We were able to spend the holiday in our new home and even went to a new church that is right down the road. Owen did a fantastic job during Mass and never made one fuss, both mom and dad were a little nervous about that. Then we had a great brunch at a very old, southern mansion downtown. I wish I would've had an Easter hat, I may have fit in a little more.

First HOT day!

And Owen takes after his daddy--he does not like to be hot! We went for a walk today with Emma and Jarret and he seemed to like that. However, when we proceeded to get into the hot car, the screaming began! It did not end until we got home, stripped him of his onesie, patted him down with a cool wash cloth and left him in just his diaper (and of course fed him). I have a feeling that his diaper may be his new summer attire. I mean this kid was MAD! Hopefully he likes to swim or his daddy will be busy with him this summer in the AC while mommy is at the pool...
